Komune Gold Coast transformed an ageing beachfront apartment building on the Superbank into the most talked-about surf-lifestyle venue in Australia. Developed, branded and operated by Group Cannon, the asset combined 22 apartments with a 525-person beach club, rooftop events space and oceanfront amenities to create a youth-driven hospitality mecca. For more than 11 years it delivered exceptional performance with lines around the block every weekend, hosting international surf events, major brand activations and thousands of high-energy functions that cemented its cult status on the Southern Gold Coast.
The project showcased Group Cannon’s ability to reposition real estate through brand, design, culture and operational innovation, generating strong cashflow and property value uplift. Ultimately, surging land values on Greenmount Beach meant the asset’s highest and best use shifted toward residential redevelopment. In 2022, the property was sold in one line to Spyre Developers for its premium apartment potential, maximising exit value and validating Komune as a high-impact development and operating success story.
